This article is for Analyzify clients who observed some issues with their Google Ads conversion tracking. Check out what Analyzify offers on Google Ads and more.

Most of the reported problems happen due to insufficient or missing setup, so please follow these troubleshooting guides first as they might already point you in the correct direction.

This is a clear sign that there are some missing or wrong elements in your setup. Please make sure to follow our Google Ads conversion tracking validation guide , and make sure your:

  • GTM container and data layers are placed on your “Checkout" > "Additional Scripts”,
  • Conversion ID and label values have been entered correctly in GTM,
  • Google Ads Conversion tags are active (not paused) on GTM,
  • GTM container is published.

If all of them appear correct, then please also make sure to run a Google Ads Conversion health check.

You can contact our customer support team if these steps didn’t solve your problem. Please don’t forget to include the screenshots of your findings so that we can help you solve the issue more promptly.

More often than not, this issue happens because you have more than one “Primary” conversion on your Google Ads account.

Make sure to follow our best practices on Primary & Secondary conversions on Google Ads.

Another potential issue is the same conversion ID and label being triggered from multiple places, such as:

  • Analyzify’s GTM container,
  • Another app,
  • Code block on your “Additional Scripts”.

Make sure to use one data source for each conversion ID & label . For example, if you provided the “Purchase Conversion A” to Analyzify, then remove the same conversion codes from "Checkout - Additional scripts" (if there are any).

Running a Google Ads Conversion health check should also show you if the same conversion is being triggered from multiple sources.

You can contact our customer support team if these steps didn’t solve your problem. Please don’t forget to include screenshots of your findings so that we can help you solve the issue more promptly.

Google Ads will ONLY show the conversions that come through ads. If you have 10 sales on Shopify and see 3 conversions on Google Ads, it could be because:

  • Those sales didn’t come from Google Ads,
  • The sales came from Google Ads but the visitors were using ad blockers, so the attribution didn’t work. (Note that this could also be caused by reasons other than ad blockers.)

Running a Google Ads Conversion health check should show you the “Last Time” that the conversion event was triggered, no matter if the sales are coming from Google Ads or not.

You can contact our customer support team if these steps didn’t solve your problem. Please don’t forget to include screenshots of your findings so that we can help you solve the issue more promptly.

The best method to troubleshoot this issue is to check the history of the conversion, and it will show you the values one by one.

Please run a Google Ads Conversion health check and cross-compare the numbers within Google Ads and Shopify.

Differences between Google Analytics & Google Ads

Google Analytics and Google Ads have different attribution models. It is normal to see some differences as Google Analytics might attribute some sales differently than Google Ads.

You can learn more about the Google Ads Attribution Models here.

If you think the difference you are experiencing is significant, then please make sure to validate your setup using the troubleshooting guides that have been provided above.
