Google Ads Remarketing Pixels through Analyzify

Learn how to set up and activate your remarketing pixels on Google Ads for different Shopify plans with Analyzify.

You need some pixels on your Shopify website to be able to properly run dynamic remarketing ads. These pixels are known as Global Site Tag, Gtag, or Google Ads remarketing pixels, and there are several ways to set them up.

An example use case:When a visitor is on a product page, the global site tag sends this information into Google Ads so that you can retarget this visitor with the same or a similar product.

Analyzify’s setup and GTM container includes the Global Site Tag with all the related events and data.

For Non-Shopify Plus Stores

We recommend using the official Google app for non-Shopify Plus stores. It works quite well and you are also able to track the check-out steps. As you might already know, non-Shopify plus stores are limited with editing the checkout steps. So we advise that you stick with the native integration for the best result. However, you should still use Analyzify for your Google Ads conversion tracking, as Analyzify’s GTM setup renders the conversions much better than the native setup.

You should keep Analyzify’s Global Site Tags paused on Google Tag Manager if you are using the native integration. If you are having any problems with the native integration, you can disable that and use Analyzify’s own integration instead.

For Shopify Plus Stores

Our Global Site Tags on GTM are more powerful than the native integration, because we are able to send more data, such as new / returning clients, user-level data, and product-level data.

You should remove the global site tag codes from your theme files and pause the native integrations if you decide to use Analyzify for your remarketing pixels.

How to Activate Google Ads Remarketing Tags through Analyzify

As mentioned above, you should not be using the official Google app’s remarketing pixels and Analyzify’s Global Site Tag on GTM at the same time. If you want to use Analyzify’s setup before you start, make sure that:

  • You don’t have an active global site tag on your store.
  • You have an active product feed that is connected to your Google Merchant Center.
  • You know your product ID format on your feed.

Analyzify’s GTM container is set to Shopify’s classic product ID format by default, and it looks like this:

shopify_US_11111111_2222222

Dynamic fields: US: Country Code, 11111111: Product ID, 2222222: Variant ID

If you are using a different product ID format, you can contact our support team.

When you are following the steps above, make sure you have the correct product ID format in place by taking the following steps to activate your Google Ads Remarketing Pixels for your Shopify store through Analyzify’s Google Tag Manager setup.

Here is our step-by-step guide to activate and test the remarketing tags.

Important Note: If you have been seeing Global Site Tag errors on your Google Ads account, they might still stay there for several days. If you are still seeing any errors after the waiting period, please don’t hesitate to contact our support team.
